Alamo and National

Alamo Rent a Car opened in 1974 with just 4 locations in Florida. Now over 40 years later,  Alamo is the largest car hire company supplying international tourists to North America. Now part of the Enterprise Holdings company along with National, the company has the largest fleet of cars in the U.S.A at its disposal.

Many locations feature Alamo’s Choice’ product.  ‘Choice’ allows clients to choose their own car from those available in the category booked. This is a great way to try something new, grab a high end car, or even a brand new car for your rental period.

Dollar and Thrifty

Dollar opened in 1965 and Thrifty began some 15 years earlier in 1950!  In 1997 the two companies came together to become Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group.  DTAG grew to over 600 locations in America and Canada with its headquarters in Tulsa.  In 2010 Hertz bought DTAG with final approval to the deal given in 2013. The overall headquarters for Hertz is now in the Fort Myers area of Florida.

The cars are supplied with a full tank of fuel, and if the fully inclusive package is taken then the car can return with a full tank (Dollar) or is paid for on arrival and then returned empty (Thrifty).
